Where Can I Get A Criminal Background Check For A Security Licence In Alberta?

One of the requirements to obtain a security licence in Alberta is a Criminal Background Check. Simply contact your local police department and provide information including your name and date of birth. In some cases fingerprints will be needed and sent to the RCMP to search on the National Repository Of Criminal Records.
According to Alberta Justice, all three searches are mandatory to obtain your security licence:
- Criminal Record Check
- Vulnerable Sector Search
- Local Police Database Search
When applying for your records check, you may be asked for an employment type, which you can fill in as "security services". Once you receive your results, you would submit them along with your licence application, or if necessary, the police service can send the results by email to [email protected]. For security licence applications, Alberta Justice considers record check documents that are more than 90 days old to be expired. Processing times and fees can vary by the police service.
